This was a great tribute to the talented men I had the privilege of growing up watching! I am the oldest daughter of Tom Niederkorn and this article brought back so many found memories from Loeschs Ball Club to Whitaker Buick. My Dads love of softball has carried down many generations in our family, I too played til the age of 50. Thank you again!

Thank you for the kind compliment Julie. I really enjoyed talking with your dad, and through the power of the Internet, I discovered that he not only succeeded at fastpitch softball, but was a great athlete in baseball, basketball, football and boxing. I can’t recall ever writing about a fastpitch player that was so gifted in so many sports. Amazing! It is good to hear that you carried on the family’s softball tradition. Please say hi to your folks for me, I enjoyed talking with them.
