LAS VEGAS – The Bombers lived up to their name in the winners bracket final of the AA/AA-Major Bracket by pounding out a 7-0 win over the Northeast Naturals.

Pitchers Tony Mancha and Jorge Segura Bonilla combined for the win with Mike Hoadley slugging a three-run homer, and Mancha rapping out a pair of hits with two RBI.

Mark Aranda and Jesse Palacios reached safely and drove in a run each.

With the win, the Bombers improve to 3-0 and await the survivor of the losers bracket in the championship game scheduled for 3 p.m. at Sunset Park in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS – A pitcher’s job can certainly be made easier with run support. And with 27 runs over four games, All-Star Automotive pitchers, Travis Kunz and Mike Milligan, would certainly attest to that.

All Star’s latest and biggest game was a 6-0 victory over the A1 Rockies, Sunday morning in the winners bracket final that sends All Star into the A-Major championship later in the afternoon.

“It’s been our bats,” said All Star manager Tom Allen. “We’ve been getting key hits and quality at bats.”

LAS VEGAS – After dropping a tough 3-1 loss to Marcio Sausage Co. in the AA/AA-Major opening game on Friday, Desperado Sports Tavern of Missoula, Mont. has fought its way back with three consecutive wins on Saturday, to be just two games shy of reaching the championship game.

On Saturday, Desperado beat back Santa Celilla, 5-4, followed by a 5-3 victory over Hector’s NAFA Selects, and then exacting some revenge the Missoula club defeated Marcio Sausage Co., 6-2, Saturday afternoon.

Desperado returns to action Sunday morning in an 11:30 contest, taking on the winner between Team Marquez and TJ Fastpitch.

Should they survive that game, Desperado would need only one more win to reach the championship – taking on the loser of the winners bracket final between the J&B Bombers and Northeast Naturals at 1:15.

LAS VEGAS – For most of the game, the J&B Bombers struggled offensively and found themselves on the short end of a 4-1 score to Marchio Sausage Company.

But in the fifth, their bats got hot, scoring five times on six hits to survive the Minnesota squad, 6-4, and advance into Sunday morning’s AA/AA-Major winners bracket final.

The big blows came from Cam Schiller and Blake Hunter, who drove in a pair of runs – with Hunter’s two-out single driving in the game winner.

Right-hander Tony Mancha then came on to close out the game and earn the save in relief of starter Pat Burns.

The Bombers (2-0) in the 10-team tournament, take on the Northeast Naturals at 9:45 a.m. at Sunset Park. The Naturals (2-0) slipped past Mexico’s TJ Fastpitch, 3-2, to advance.

The winner will advance into Sunday’s 3 p.m. championship game, while the loser must battle back through the losers bracket to get back into title contention.

    Sunday, April 9th, 2017

ROBERT McCARRIE had a game to remember for the Budmen of So. Calif. Down by a run with two out in the final inning with a man aboard, McCarrie blasted an inside-the-park home run to give his team a walk-off 10-9 victory over Wololok, Calif. in the A Division of the Las Vegas Road Trip X tournament, Saturday. LAS VEGAS – Robert McCarrie has many years of fastpitch softball ahead of him. Years in which to create memories playing the grand old game.

And what he did Saturday will surely be stashed away in his memory bank to savor after retires.

In the bottom of the seventh with the Budmen of East Los Angeles down to their last out and trailing by a run, McCarrie came to the plate with a runner aboard. He needed to keep the inning alive. He needed to at least get on base any way possible.

Well, McCarrie did more than that. He abruptly ended the game.

“I got a rise ball,” he said. And did he ever jump on it.
