First Annual NAFA Western Championships in Carson City

DAYTON, OR – The 1st annual NAFA Western Championships will be held at the Centennial Sport Complex in Carson City, Nev., July 5-6.

The tournament is NAFA sanctioned and restricts pitchers to class A and A-Major, and must be pre-approved. The eight teams entered will play three pool play games on Saturday and then will be seeded for Sunday’s championship playoffs.

  • Holiday RV Free Agents
  • Demon Dawgs, Calif.
  • Black Sox, Calif.

    On Sunday, all teams begin the playoffs with the winner of each pool awarded two lives. The remaining teams have one life and are seeded based on their records on Saturday.

    NAFA Executive Director, Benjie Hedgecock, expects the tournament to grow once the tournament becomes better known.

    “Thanks to the teams and players joining us for this special event we are launching that will grow each year just as our masters program has grown over time,” said Hedgecock. “It’s always a special thing to be part of the first one of anything in life; and even though it’s a small field, we appreciate your support of this event.”

      INFORMATION FOR TEAMS ENTERED:
  • Hedgecock will mail the NAFA Bat Rule and the Official Tournament Rules for the Western Championships.
  • Jim Williamson has emailed you the blank roster and instructions on how to fill it out and where to send it and bring it.
  • Mail your entry fee of $430 to NAFA, PO Box 566, Dayton, Oregon 97114
  • Player Checkin with picture ID will be at Centennial Park at times outlined in JRW’s email to you.
  • There will be a spectator gate fee of $5 each day.
  • “The Carson City Park and Rec Department are famous for their excellent food and beverage concessions so please support them,” Hedgecock said, adding that there are no Friday games, keeping that open for July 4th celebration.

    Western Championship Awards:

  • Champion’s entry fee will be paid for the 2014 NAFA World Series at the Quad Cities (for those teams unable to attend, the fee will be paid for the 2015 World Series.) along with two rooms for for three nights at a hotel NAFA chooses in the Quad Cities at the World Series this year (or 2015 if unable to attend)
  • Team Trophies for first, second, third, and fourth places

  • Runner-Up Medals
  • Most Valuable Player Award
  • Most Valuable Pitcher Award
  • 12 All-World Selections
