SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. – Please join us on Saturday July 26th at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs, 10900 Pioneer Boulevard to pay tribute to our great pal Dave Blackburn.

This will be the final SCIFL Tournament of the season and a great venue to share memories about Dave, aka “Breeder.

There will be a SHORT ceremony on Field 1 after the 10:30 AM games which will be broadcast on Ballpark Radio. That will be followed on Ballpark Radio by a Maccabi USA game.

Many of Dave’s friends and teammates past and present will be on hand.

Special thanks to Mr. Robert Hernandez for his efforts to help make this happen and for creating and running the SCIFL since its inception in 2007.

Dave “Breeder” Blackburn was a beloved member of our Maccabi USA family for almost 30 years.

He began his association with Maccabi USA in 1985 as a key member of the first Men’s Fastpitch team at the 1985 Maccabiah Games. Ultimately, Dave participated in seven Maccabiah Games in Israel and four Pan Am Maccabiah Games in South America.

Known internationally in the Fastpitch community, in 2011, Dave was inducted into the International Softball Congress’s Hall of Fame– the game’s highest individual honor. Dave’s jersey (#7) was retired in the summer of 2013 during Gold Medal ceremonies at Ma’or, Israel. Thankfully, he was able to attend both ceremonies.

On Sunday, July 27th, the Blackburn Family is hosting a “Celebration of Life” remembrance in Dave’s hometown of Calumet City, Illinois. It will be held at the American Legion on 950 Legion Drive from 12:00-2:00 PM.

On Monday July 28th, a Minion will take place in Chicago, Illinois at the Glenview Golf Club, where Fred Cohen, Dave’s longtime teammate, is being honored for his work on behalf of Maccabi USA.
