Norris drives Pepper Jacks to first round win

QUAD CITIES, Ia/Il – Tim Norris batting in the No. nine spot drove in two runs, Rene Dentremont fired a three-hitter with seven strikeouts, and the Pepperjacks of Halifax, Canada defeated J&B Painting of So. Calif., 2-0, Thursday in NAFA A / A-Major pool play.

With one out in the bottom of the second, Norris bounced a Rob Schwyer offering up the middle to score Aaron Long who walked, and Tristan Richard, who reached on an error.

Schwyer allowed one earned run on seven hits with 13 strikeouts and one walk.

For Pepperjack, Robert Doiron was 2 for 4, Richard was 2 for 3, with Jonah Wright, Peter Mersereau and Norris each getting one hit each.

J&B Painting’s three hits came from Jason Glademan, Schwyer, Patrick Burns.
