USA pulls off another thrilling win, 4-3 in nine innings over Australia

Midland, Mich. – The United States’ final pool play game began over four hours late on Wednesday, but it sure was worth the wait.

Jonathan Broadbear’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave USA a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over Australia for the Americans’ second dramatic win in front of a large crowd at Currie Stadium in as many nights at the WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship.

A day after edging Czech Republic 3-2 at the stadium, USA came from behind twice against perennial power Australia in a game which was originally slated for 6 p.m. but which ended up starting after 10 p.m. after a mid-afternoon thunderstorm swept through Midland and pushed the day’s action behind schedule.

Two and a half hours and three ejections later, USA emerged with its hardest-fought victory of the tournament so far. Continue Reading
