DAYTON, Ore. – In the winter of 1993, seven dedicated fastpitch men – Pat Bucknell, Jim Williamson, Loren Lathrop, Ronn Kopp, Roger Regez, Milt Waschow and Bill Musolf – met in Chicago with a lofty goal in mind: to create an international organization explicitly for male fastpitch.

And from that meeting, the North American Fastpitch Association was born.

In August, NAFA will celebrate an outstanding milestone – a quarter century of striving to make the game better for every man, young man, boy or masters-aged player who wants to play fastpitch the “NAFA way.”

NAFA Executive Director, Benjie Hedgecock, wants to make this milestone special and one long to be remembered by inviting all teams, players and fans to attend the NAFA World Series in Fargo, No. Dak., Aug. 8-20.

“We are preparing for our 25th Anniversary of the North American Fastpitch Association in Fargo, North Dakota in August and we are inviting you to come join us,” said Hedgecock.

The World Series will be played at Fargo’s 13-field softball facility, the beautiful new Northside Softball Complex.

Fargo, long revered as a men’s fastpitch mecca, is doing everything possible to make this the best world series yet to be held. But for that to happen, Hedgecock is asking all teams to advise whether or not they are attending or declining this year’s World Series.

“Let us know what your team name is this year and what class you are playing this year as well,” he said. “We hope to see you there and if your team can’t make it but you want to come play, we have a team for you.”

Teams will battle for seven division crowns in Fargo – which makes NAFA the only men’s fastpitch organization offering championships from a recreational division to an elite level.
