New Zealand beats Japan to remain unbeaten in Pool B play

WHITEHORSE, YK, Canada – Joshua Pettett didn’t sleep well.

The New Zealand pitcher only caught about five hours of sleep last night, but that didn’t stop him from helping the Black Sox to a 8-1 victory over Japan this morning.

“It’s awesome because it sets us up real good,” said Pettett.

The Black Sox bounced back after trailing 0-1 last night in the third inning, when play was suspended until this morning due to rain.

“It was hard with the brand new ball and the rain. It was slippery,” said Pettett. “You can’t hit as many spots as you want. So when it was rain delay, I was kind of glad to come back out against a good team.”
