YUCAIPA, CA – Game ending dramatics don’t come any better than this.

With two out and the winning run on base, Matt Hardison belted a 390-foot walk-off home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the seventh inning to power the Yucaipa Thunderbirds to a 7-5 victory over the El Toro Chargers (23-7-1) in the semifinals of CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs, Tuesday, at Yucaipa.

Hardison carries a lusty .509 batting average, but never in his two-year varsity career had he hit a home run. And he certainly picked the right time to belt his first.

Now Yucaipa (27-6) will meet Glendora (26-2-1) for the Division 2 championship, Saturday, at 4:30 p.m. at the Lake Elsinore Storm Minor League Diamond, located on the 15 Freeway, south of the 91 Freeway. Glendora defeated Mira Costa, 2-1, to advance. Ticket prices are $10 adult, and $5 for ages 3-13 and students with I.D.
