SAN JACINTO, CA – The 2002 Best of The West men’s fastpitch softball tournament was held at the Soboba Indian Reservation’s beautiful softball complex.

Team Rainey defeated Quest in the championship behind the pitching of tournament Most Valuable Pitcher, Travis Price, and great all around play of Most Valuable Player Jesse Duncan.

Along with Team Rainey and Quest, teams entered in the tournament include: the Arizona Blackhawks, Team California Masters, SOCAL Bucks, Yucaipa Bombers, Mexicali Fastpitch, and the Las Vegas Hitmen.

Besides Price and Duncan, many outstanding athletes showed their skills in the tourney, including ISC Hall of Famer, Hice Stiles, Russ Snow, and Pete Turner. Also on hand were the incomparable trio of Zane Smith, Clarence (C.D.) Davis, and the late Brian McNaughton.

And as usual, Tournament Director, Dave Blackburn, produced a top-notch caliber tournament. And again, Blackburn will direct the 2010 Best of The West, June 5-6, at Ellings Park, Santa Barbara.
