K-Club hosting men’s fastpitch tournament in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE, WA – The last time a men’s fastpitch softball tournament was played in Moses Lake, Washington? Most likely a very long time ago. But that’s about to change.

Mike Kolda, a Moses Lake resident, and player / manager of the K-Club men’s fastpitch team is busy organizing the first annual “Columbia Basin Men’s Fastpitch Invitational.”

Paul Lauzier Athletic Complex

The tournament will take place May 12 to 13 at the Paul Lauzier Athletic Complex in Moses Lake. Registration deadline is May 7, and the entry fee is $350. Please see the attached flier Tourney Flyer for complete information.

“We want eight to 10 teams,”said Kolda. “It’s a four-game guarantee with three games played Saturday in round robin. The complex is in great shape, and there’s a lot of fun stuff to do here with a water park, golfing, and public parks.”

For players and families, the complex has a children’s playground area, picnic area, and basketball and soccer facilities.

Teams from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana have shown interest with seven teams committed so far, but there is still time to enter, Kolda says.

The Ameristay Inn and Suites is located about a mile from the softball complex, and is offering a discounted rate for teams. Just mention the tournament, Kolda said.

Teams showing interest – with seven confirmed – encompass a wide swath of the northwest, including Yakima, Wenatchee, Spokane, and Lacey, Washington. Portland, Oregon, long a fastpitch hotbed has also shown interest along with ball clubs from Boise, Idaho, and Montana.
