San Antonio Titans claim NAFA AA-Major title

TOPEKA, KS – The San Antonio Titans swept through the AA-Major World Series after an initial disappointing turnout of teams. As the NAFA AA-Major (Aug. 17-19) kicked off Friday evening, tournament organizers found themselves scrambling to find teams to compete in the high profile tournament.

‘A’ TEAMS TO THE RESCUE
Teams from the A-division were encouraged to enter the AA-Major, so the tournament went forward, featuring top teams such as the Topeka Toros, New Image (WI), and the San Antonio Titans making their first NAFA World Series appearance in over five years.

NAFA AA-Major World Series features top intermediate teams

TOPEKA, KS – The North American Fastpitch Association AA-Major World Series kicks off on Friday, culminating with the championship on Sunday, Aug. 19.

Seven of the USA’s top intermediate teams will battle for the championship, including:

    1. San Antonio Titans -Texas
    2. Super Chief – Oklahoma
    3. Topeka Toros – Kansas (2012 NAFA AA runner-up)
    4. Illinois Merchants – Illinois
    5. Topeka Allstars – Kansas
    6. Kegel Fastpitch – Minnesota
    7. New Image – Wisconsin

The tournament will feature some outstanding pitching duels with the likes of Tony Mancha of San Antonio, who pitched El Paso Steel to the 2010 A-Major title.

Don’t count out David Beets of Super Chief and Kevin Kammueller with Kegel. Both pitchers were recently selected for NAFA’s “20th Year Anniversary Team.”

New Image will march Jeremy Holman and Josh Johnson to the circle, while the Illinois Merchants will counter-punch with Sisco Sabate.
