Defending world champion Canada knocks off the United States to claim Vancouver Challenge

VANCOUVER, BC, Canada – Is Canada peaking at the right time for the Men’s Softball World Championship?

All indications that the Canadians are poised to make a strong run at defending their 2015 title was evident after an impressive performance in the Vancouver Challenge that featured several of the world’s best teams.

Canada ran roughshod in the tournament by outscoring its opponents 54-6, while posting a 7-0 record, including a 4-0 victory over the United States in the championship.

That perfect mark also includes a 10-3 hammering of the world’s No. 1 ranked New Zealand Black Sox in the semi-finals.

Garrity blasts Canada past USA in IX Pan Am games

PARANA, ARGENTINA – In his first three at bats, Gregg Garrity hadn’t done much. In fact, Canada’s cleanup hitter was 0-3, and had popped up, grounded out, and hit into a double play.

But like all good hitters, eventually he’s going to hit the ball. And in his final at bat he did. In the most dramatic of ways.

Errors costly for Team USA in loss to Dominican Republic

PARANA, ARGENTINA – Defense and pitching have been USA Men’s National Fastpitch Team’s staples through the first three games of the IX Pan American games.

The pitching stayed reliable on Monday, but the defense didn’t.

As a result, Team USA suffered a 6-1 loss to the Dominican Republic, which evens the American’s record at 2-2 in the tournament.

Japan knocks off undefeated Canada in ISF World Championship

Japan fans were pleased to get a big win over Canada in the 2013 ISF World Championship.

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – The Canadian Men’s National Team dropped their first-place record in Pool B to 4-1 with a 4-1 loss to Japan on the fifth day of the ISF XIII Men’s World Championship.

Canada took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning, on Bryan Abrey fielder’s choice that allowed Kevin Schellenberg to score from third base with two outs.

But Japan bounced right back with a big four-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth to pull off the win.
