GREEN BAY, Wisc. – The ISC World Tournament. The fastpitch softball faithful in the Fox Valley speak of it in almost reverential tones.

It conjures up images, always, of a week or two on the West Coast, in places like Sun City, Ariz., Long Beach, or even Bakersfield, Calif., where this summer’s version of the International Softball Congress’s national tournament is scheduled to begin Friday.

Rain hampers 2016 ASA Fastpitch Men’s Open East Coast Championship

ELKHART, Ind. – While the tournament itself got strong reviews, the heavy rains of the weekend but a damper on the American Softball Association Men’s Fast Pitch Open East National Championship at Riverview Park.

Hard work by the Elkhart Parks & Recreation Department got the diamonds back into shape after Saturday morning’s rain, but two storms that came through the area Sunday afternoon finally put an end to the tournament.

“We may have been able to get the diamonds back into playing shape by 6 p.m. or so, but by then you’re looking at possibly being here ’til 10 and a couple teams had long drives home, so they decided to just let it go,” Elkhart softball director Ed Bellows said. “You can plan for everything, but there is nothing you can do about the weather, and unfortunately we had more than our share of rain this weekend.”

K-Club Invitational draws top Northwest teams

MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Moses Lake lies about halfway between Seattle and Spokane off the 90 Interstate. Most people have never heard of Moses Lake, and have no reason to go to Moses Lake.

But there’s at least one exception. Men’s fastpitch softball. In particular the annual K-Club Invitational Men’s Fastpitch Tournament.

Since the tournament began in 2012, spearheaded by the Kolda family – father Dan and sons Rickey and Mike – teams from the greater Northwest have become quite familiar with Moses Lake, and have taken a liking to the tournament.
