Nation’s best softball teams and stars compete in 2019 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Softball fans could travel to all parts of the United States, Canada – in fact the world – and find no higher caliber of women’s fastpitch softball than at the 2019 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City, Feb. 21-24.

On hand for the 16th annual showcase were NCAA Div. I powerhouses such as the No. 2 ranked UCLA Bruins, 14-0, (5-0 Mary Nutter), Oregon Ducks, Arizona Wildcats, BYU Cougars, Kentucky Wildcats, Ohio State Buckeyes, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oklahoma Sooners, Washington Huskies…and the list could go on – included on that list was Japan’s national team.

The collegiate classic started with dreary, cold and rainy weather on Thursday, Feb. 21st, but on Friday the sun broke free under beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures that lasted through the final day on Sunday.

On a gorgeous Saturday, thousands packed Big League Dreams five ball diamonds to enjoy, applaud and cheer for many of the best softball athletes in the world.

    Wounded Warriors and USSSA Pride women’s professional fastpitch team playing in Cathedral City

    CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIF – The Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball team will be in Palm Springs February 18-20th to take on the National Pro Fastpitch 2013 Champion USSSA Pride in an Exhibition Softball Game.

    The game will be taking place Wednesday, February 19th at 6 p.m. at the Cathedral City Big League Dreams facility and ADMISSION IS FREE.

    Service men and women attending the game will be honored and recognized at the game.

    Then following the Wounded Warrior (photo gallery) game at 8 p.m. the 2013 NPF Champion USSSA Florida Pride will take on the Colton Dirtbags Men’s Fastpitch team from the So Cal Independent Fastpitch league.

    On Thursday at 6 p.m. the Pride will take on the Pala Braves Men’s Fastpitch team, followed by an 8 p.m. game Pride vs the South Bay LA AllStar’s Women’s Team.

    Cats Fall in Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Finale

    CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIF – Despite a solid effort in the circle, 14th-ranked Arizona softball fell in its final game of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, 3-0 to No. 11 LSU (14-1). The Wildcats finished the tournament 2-3 and fell to 10-5 on the season.

    Florida Softball wraps up Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with 5-3 victory over Georgia Tech Saturday

    CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIF – The fifth-ranked Gator softball squad capped off the week in Palm Springs with a 5-3 victory over Georgia Tech Saturday at the Big League Dreams Sports Complex in the final contest for No. 5 Florida (16-1) at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

    Florida went 4-1 over its three-day stay in the desert, with wins over Loyola Marymount, Oklahoma State, Syracuse and Georgia Tech, while falling shy in a school-record 12-inning game against No. 7 Missouri Friday. continue reading Florida Softball

    Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

    CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIF – 35 of the country’s top women’s collegiate softball teams will be competing in The Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic including UCLA, Oregon, Arizona, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida… at Big League Dreams, 33-700 Date Palm Drive, Cathedral City, CA.

    The tournament runs four days from Thursday, Feb. 21 to Sunday. Please check the tournament website for all pertinent information.

    Big League Dreams is a beautiful facility in which to watch the finest women’s fastpitch teams in the U.S. I’ve attended the past two years and the action is fantastic, the weather great, and the seating is close to the action (if you wish to lounge in a lawn chair, be sure to bring one).
