A.B. Miller’s triple threat too much for Yucaipa Thunderbirds

YUCAIPA, CA – In its first two Citrus Belt League games the Fontana A.B. Miller Rebels hadn’t really been tested. They trounced Fontana (0-3) 41-16 in their opener, and then crushed Rialto (0-3) 56-12 a week later.

So a couple of questions loomed Friday night: Are the Rebels really that good? And could they pass a tougher test against the Yucaipa Thunderbirds?

The first question remains not fully answered with four league games remaining, including match ups with the Redlands Terriers (3-0 CBL, 5-1) and the undefeated Redlands East Valley Wildcats (3-0, 6-0).

REBELS PASS TEST
But the test with Yucaipa (1-2, 3-3) proved a rousing success as Miller romped over the Thunderbirds, 39-14 at Yucaipa High School.

“Yucaipa’s a good, strong, disciplined football team with some good, strong players,” said Miller Head Coach, Jeff Strycula in his first year guiding the Rebels. “But David Dash (133 rushing yards and two touchdowns) is so fast, so quick, when they cheated on him it opened it up for other (players).”
