YUCAIPA, CA – Brittany Stone remembers the eyes starring at her and the silence as she lined up for her first kick. Nervous? Oh, yes, she said.

The Rialto Carter football team desperately needed someone – anyone – to accurately kick extra points and short field goals. Some guys tried, but didn’t measure up to what the coaching staff expected.

So when the Carter coaches heard of this 14-year-old freshman girl with a strong leg, they said let’s see what she can do. The coaches gave her an audition. Her audience? The entire team. All 87 players.

“All the guys were watching and I was nervous,” said Brittany. “But I made the kick right down the middle.”

Yucaipa Thunderbirds Football Playoff’s On The Line Tonight

YUCAIPA, CA – The Rialto Carter Lions and Yucaipa Thunderbirds meet in the final game of Citrus Belt League play tonight at Yucaipa. And for one team, the season will continue, while the other will pack up its gear and call it quits.

Both teams come into tonight’s game tied for fourth in the CBL with 3-3 records. And the game has huge ramifications. The winner will lock up fourth place and earn the league’s fourth seed into the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Playoffs.

Yucaipa claims Murrieta Valley water polo championship

MURRIETA, CA – The Yucaipa High School junior varsity water polo team played in the 11th Annual Murrieta Valley Frosh-Soph Tournament this past weekend and captured the hardware. The team is comprised of YHS 9th and 10th grade players.

Under the leadership and direction of YHS Varsity coach, Matt Carpenter, and second year JV coach, Austin Arnold, this team played with a sense of unity, intensity, and focus going undefeated in four matches to take home their first-ever tournament championship.

See Fontana and Redlands football photos

REDLANDS, CA – The Fontana Steelers made a game of it in the first half, but in the second half it was all Redlands as the Terriers scored 20 unanswered points in racing away to a 34-7 victory after leading 14-7 at the half, Friday, at Redlands High School.
