Girls softball pitching clinic in Beaumont, Calif

BEAUMONT, CA – The Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District is hosting a young women’s softball clinic, Thursday, November 8th andFriday, November 9th at Noble Creek Community Park, 650 W. Oak Valley Parkway,Beaumont.

California State University Monterey Bay head coach, Andrea Kenney and pitching coach Sonja Garnett will be the instructors. The clinic is for girls ages 14 and older. Registration will be from 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm and the clinic will run from 5:00 – to 9:00 p.m. both days.

The Cost will be $50 per day. Dress to play softball with appropriate attire and bring your own equipment.

The Noble Creek snack bar will be open during the clinic.

There is an RV park on site for those who would like to stay, $20 per night for full hookups.

Five fastpitch pitching coaches? That’s overload

YUCAIPA, CA – Every so often a fastpitch softball coach or parent will ask me “can you take a look at my pitcher and see what you think.”

That request always sends up red, warning flags. It has me suspecting that the coach or parent thinks there’s something wrong with their star pupil, and I can somehow work a miracle in one session.

Now, I’ve been around fastpitch softball since 1963; 34 years as a pitcher. My ability was mediocre at best. But I do consider myself a student of the circle. I’ve studied, photographed and written about some of the best in the men’s game: Michael White, Peter Meredith, Darren Zack, Ty Stofflet…
