Just one team gets to celebrate a world championship. Which team will it be this year?

KITCHENER, ON, CANADA – The International Softball Congress kicks off it’s 72nd World Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada on Aug. 11 with 46 teams battling over eight days for the coveted crown of World Champion.

Will the defending champion Six Nations, Ontario, Hill United Chiefs repeat and claim a fifth title in the past six years? Only the Mary Star (Calif.) All-Stars, with five championships in the 1950s and the legendary Long Beach Nitehawks, with 10 titles between 1953 and 1975, have more ISC crowns.

But the Chiefs will have no walk in the park in this event as the New York Gremlins, fresh off an ASA Men’s Major National Championship will prove a mighty adversary.

And waiting to knock those two off their lofty perches are the likes of the J&B Bombers of Los Angeles; the Kitchener, ON Hallman Twins; Denmark, WI, Circle Tap Dukes; the Toronto, ON, Batmen, and several other ball clubs loaded with talented players from throughout the U.S., Canada, South America, New Zealand and Australia.

But this isn’t the only fastpitch attraction taking place in Kitchener. Three other tournaments are being held as well.

Just a half-notch below the ISC World Tournament is the ISC II Tournament, featuring 12 Intermediate club teams. And for the veterans of the sport, the Legends Tournament features 13 teams loaded with talented ball players age 50-over.

And as in any sport, without youth their is no future. So the ISC holds an age 23-Under Tournament for the rising stars of the game.

For fastpitch fans it doesn’t get any better than this. If you can’t attend, then follow along on the ISC website for game and bracket results: 2018 ISC World Tournament
