Young Missouri ball player seeks fastpitch team for next season

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

ST. LOUIS, MO – The men’s fastpitch season has about wrapped up, but already 19-year-old Jake Bryan is looking ahead to next season.

He’s looking for a ball club to give him a chance to earn a spot on a roster.

“I’ve been around fastpitch most of my life and just absolutely love the atmosphere and the awesome competition,” said Jake who comes from a talented fastpitch family.

His dad Wayne Bryan and his grandfather Tim Bryan played for many years. In fact, his dad played for some very good ASA and ISC teams: the GMC Dealers and the Lafayette Bar & Grill of St. Louis, and the Heflin Builders (New York and Florida). He was selected an ASA All-American player in 2005, and played in the 1998 U.S. Olympic Festival.

So chances are, some of that ball field know-how and athleticism has rubbed off on Jake.

And he’s willing to try and prove it to a team in the Missouri and Illinois area. He just wants some team, some manager to give him a chance.

Jake has been playing fastpitch for two years. He considers second base his strong suite, but he can play first and third as well as the outfield, if need be.

This past year he played in the Kelso Klassic tournament and in the St. Charles League. But some of the veterans on the team are starting to slow down and don’t want to play as much, while Jake’s career is on the upswing.

“I just want to try to find a team since my dad and them are getting older and aren’t playing much anymore,” he said. “I would love to keep playing.”

(Surely there are Missouri or Illinois teams that would give this young man an opportunity.)
