SALEM, Ore – Cody Brubaker homered, Shane Alder allowed just one run, and the RiverDogs of Boise, Idaho claimed the 2013 ASA Class C West Men’s Fastpitch National Championship by defeating the Roseville (Calif.) Eagles 8-1, Sept. 1 at Wallace Marine Park in Salem, Ore.

Brubaker blasted a three-run homer in the first inning that gave the RiverDogs a 4-0 advantage. And two runs each in the second and third proved too much for Roseville to overcome.

By JIM WILLIAMS / JRW & ASSOCIATES

Moses Lake, WA – JRW & Associates of Yakima, WA defeated the Spokane Souvenirs 8-2 in the championship game of the 2nd Annual Columbia Basin Fastpitch Invite in Moses Lake, WA on Sunday May 19th.

Most Valuable Pitcher Sam Aldridge only gave up three hits and struck out 12 in the championship game. The two runs that were allowed were a two-Run home run by Nick Leva which was totally lost in the sun.

Most Valuable Player and Designated Hitter Tom Magers batted .500, had a double and a two-run home run. His three RBIs contributed to breaking up two close games to aid in JRW wins. Tom will celebrate his 60th birthday at the NAFA West Masters in Carson City on September 13th.

Tournament host K-Club defeated Interbay Door of Seattle for third place. Mike Kolda and Ricky Kolda of K-Club are to be congratulated for conducting an excellent tournament. Ground prep was outstanding and the tournament package was excellent.

A special treat for the fans for the weekend was observing the planes that passed directly over the playing field during their landing pattern. We were treated to many up close observations of Boeing’s new 787 in the two days of the tournament. The airfield in Moses Lake is Boeing’s practice facility.

Other scores, JRW Line Scores and other tournament details will be provided in a couple days.

MOSES LAKE, WASH – Planning and plotting for improvement always rates tops as a ball club’s chief goal heading into a new season.

The 2013 K-Club men’s fastpitch team is no different.

But there’s just one thing. K-Club had a great season in 2012, so how much more can they improve? Well, with a few key additions, along with several returning veterans, maybe just enough to reach the top rung on the sport’s ladder of success: winning a national fastpitch championship.
