Boys’ Fastpitch Softball Fun Days In Michigan!

Friday, April 20th, 2018

FRANKENMUTH, Mich. – Gary Compau and volunteers are offering an opportunity for boys between the ages of 8 to 18 from Frankenmuth, Saginaw, Midland, Flint, Birch Run, and Reese to learn more about and play the game of fastpitch softball. So they’ve organized a Fun Days that will run from Sundays in April and May.

Fun Days organizer, Gary Compau of Frankenmuth, realizes that to revive and expand the game, young players need to be brought into the game.

“It’s up to us,” he said. “We can make this a success.”

    THE DETAILS

State College, Pa. – Sydney Fabian reached base in the 10th inning on an error and later scored on another miscue as the Gophers beat Michigan 4-3 on Saturday night in 10 innings in the championship game of the Big Ten softball tournament.

Danielle Parlich hit a hard grounder to shortstop on the game-winning play, and the ball bounced away, allowing Fabian to score from second with a slide when the throw home was off target.

“When you put the ball in play, good things happen,” Gophers coach Jessica Allister said. “It was just gritty, gritty, getting tough in the [batter’s] box.”
