Midland County Sports Hall of Fame: Isenhart’s induction an honor to family, friends, fastpitch

MIDLAND, Mich. – To those who knew him best, the late Leland “Lee” Isenhart was an unselfish man who loved fastpitch softball and worked tirelessly to grow the game in Midland.

With his upcoming induction into the Midland County Sports Hall of Fame in a May 13 ceremony at Dow Diamond, the humble man who spent his life dedicated to helping others will be honored in a way he never would have asked for, but certainly deserved.

“I think everyone in the softball community around town thinks this is well-deserved,” said Eric Isenhart, one of five children of Lee and the late Mary Jane Isenhart, who were married for 58 years. “My dad did a lot getting fastpitch softball here. He and Lefty (Bartos) did so much for the game to keep it alive in Midland.”

Holders drawn in same pool as hosts for 2016 WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship

INSIDE THE GAMES – Two-time defending champions Argentina have been drawn in the same pool as hosts United States for the 2016 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Junior Men’s Softball World Championship in Midland, Mich.

The South American country, gold medallists in Canadian city Whitehorse two years ago and on home soil in Paraná in 2012, are also joined in Pool A by Australia, Botswana, Czech Republic, Denmark and Venezuela.

World number one ranked nation and 2014 silver medallists New Zealand headline Pool B, which features Canada, Israel, Mexico, South Africa and Japan – the 2012 runners-up and 2014 bronze medallists.

Competition is scheduled to take place from July 24 to 30 at the Currie Stadium in Emerson Park in the city in Michigan. Continue Reading in Inside The Games
