Coyotes overcome huge deficit to claim A-Division Las Vegas Road Trip title

    Monday, April 10th, 2017

LAS VEGAS – The Beaumont Coyotes had dug themselves a hole, a huge hole.

Now, could they dig themselves out of it?

Of top priority, the man in the circle had to stop the hemorrhaging. That’s exactly what Jesse Martinez did.

Trailing 5-0 in the fifth inning in the A-Division championship game of the Las Vegas Road Trip X tournament, Martinez told his teammates he wouldn’t give up any more runs.

Now all they had to do was show some offensive punch. And like lighting a fuse, the Coyotes bats caught fire in the fifth and sixth innings.

Top of lineup helps Topeka Toros to first-round win at NAFA Open

    Saturday, June 15th, 2013

FARGO, ND – The Topeka Toros (1-0) got off to a great start in the NAFA Open-Holm Classic by beating a very good Randy’s A’s (1-1) from British Columbia, 4-1, at Lindenwood Park in Fargo, Saturday.

The Toros and A’s matched hits with six apiece, but when it came to “clutch,” Topeka couldn’t have asked much more from the top of its lineup.

      The main protagonists?

Potskin and Kunz too much for Rooters

    Saturday, June 15th, 2013

FARGO, ND – Randy Potskin served notice that just because he leads off doesn’t mean he can’t drive in runs. And He did just that in a huge way in leading Randy’s A’s from British Columbia to an 11-0 victory over Rooters Bar of Fargo, Saturday.

Potskin went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored to lead the A’s 12-hit attack. Randy’s scored three runs in each of the third and fourth innings, and finished the game with a five-run sixth to post a 1-0 record in Pool A of the NAFA Open-Holm Classic Men’s Fastpitch Tournament.

But Potskin had plenty of help with Chad Ghostkeeper going 2-4, Eli Jules 2-4, RBI, and Cory Giroux (1-4) belting a three-run home run in the sixth to put the game in the win column.

With all that run support, Travis Kunz didn’t let his teammates down. He spun a two-hitter and struck out 15, while walking two. The only Rooter solving Kunz’ pitches was lead off batter and right fielder, Justin Rheault, who had both hits.

Angels go long ball to power past Circle Tap in NAFA Open-Holm Classic

    Saturday, June 15th, 2013

FARGO, ND – As border state rivals, the Circle Tap Dukes of Denmark, Wisconsin and the St. Paul, Minnesota Angels came out swinging the bats Saturday morning in the opening game for both teams in the NAFA Open-Holms Classic.

But when the dust had settled, the Angels held off the Dukes 7-5 for the victory. Josh Wagner’s homer in the top of the seventh was the difference. With the game tied at five-all, Wagner (1-for-3, run, 2 RBIs), who bats No. 2 in the lineup and plays centerfield, belted a two-run blast that gave the Angels the win.
