Girls’ showcase fastpitch tournament coming to Beaumont and Hemet

BAUMONT, CA – Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District will be hosting the Surf City Halloween Showcase Saturday, October 27 through Sunday, October 28, 2012. The tournament will be held in Hemet, and at the Noble Creek Community Park in Beaumont.

Surf City Tourneys welcome all college recruiters to the showcase tournaments. There will be 150 teams competing in divisions of ages 16-Under and 18-Under in Beaumont and Hemet Diamond Valley Park from all over the country.

From 50 to 60 girls will get college scholarships from these tournaments. The colleges include UCLA, Oregon, Washington, all Pac 10 schools and several from the East Coast area. There will be 60-70 college coaches here to watch the girl’s softball games.

Bruce Blake, Athletic Coordinator for the Park District said:

“We are lucky to have one of the largest college recruiting tournaments here in Beaumont.”

The tournaments are open to the public and it is free to attend.

Don’t miss Yucaipa’s Kivetts in NCAA regional softball finals

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

YUCAIPA, CA – Ashley and Cortney Kivett, daughters of Yucaipa High School softball coach, Dave Kivett, play for the Oregon Ducks softball team. The girls will be on ESPN live at 10 a.m. as the No. 20 ranked Ducks battle the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (49-9) in the NCAA Atlantic Regional championship game.

The Ducks are undefeated, so should they lose the first game, an if necessary second game will follow at 12:30 – also televised.

The winner advances to the NCAA Super Regional, May 28-30, with times and locations to be determined.

Michael White at the helm of the Oregon Ducks softball team

Michael White was appointed as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks women’s softball team and has his team playing in the 2010 Cathedral City Classic tournament, which continues through Sunday. White, an International Softball Congress World Tournament pitcher for three decades was also selected to the ISC Hall of Fame in 2009.
