Pala Braves perfect in winning 2017 Raymond Angulo Memorial Men’s Fastpitch Tournament

CORONA, Calif. – The Pala Braves swept through the tournament undefeated, but were forced into the ‘if necessary’ game of the double elimination format by the Beaumont Coyotes after the Braves lost in the first championship game.

The Coyotes came out of the losers bracket and played five games on Sunday to reach the final.

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. – Ten teams competed in a So. Calif. Independant Fastpitch League (SCIFL) Alliance tournament, Mar. 19-20, at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs under ideal playing conditions with the weather a balmy low-70s.

After Saturday’s pool play and Sunday’s single elimination playoff, J & B Painting emerged the champion by defeating Those Guys 8-3 in the title game. Rob Schweyer picked up the win, with Jesse Martinez taking the loss.

38th Annual Beaumont (Calif.) Coyotes 4th of July Tournament

BEAUMONT, Calif. – For 38 years, David Valdivia, Sr. has managed his Coyotes men’s fastpitch team and held a 4th of July tournament. While others have long since left the sport, Valdivia carries on with his popular tournament that draws the better teams from throughout Southern California.

The tournament is open to NAFA A-Major or lower rated teams.

Along with watching competitive men’s fastpitch, the tournament serves delicious homestyle Mexican food, making this a must attend event.

Pala Braves keep rolling in NAFA World Series A Division

QUAD CITIES, IA/IL – The Pala Braves of So. Calif. won their fifth consecutive game in the losers bracket by blasting Len’s Automotive of Minnesota, 11-1, to advance to the semifinals of the losers bracket of the 44-team NAFA World Series A Division tournament.

After opening the tournament with a win, the Braves (6-1) dropped their second, but then got right back on the winning track by knocking off Scarletts / Crowbar, Kelvington, Kakebeka, Auburn ATS and finally Len’s late Saturday afternoon.

Against Len’s, the Braves pounded out 14 hits, led by catcher Cody Maxi, batting in the No. 2 spot, who belted two home runs and was 3 for 5 with five RBI.

In the second inning, the right-side hitter had a two run shot, and in the sixth he drove a rise ball deep over the left field fence for a three-run homer.

Nate Dondero picked up the win allowing four hits with 10 strikeouts.

The Braves get no rest, as they continue marching back into contention with a game against Grumpy’s Bar of Ackley, Iowa.

    GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Ten teams with players coming from Oregon, California, Washington and Montana will battle for the championship of the NAFA Boatnik Men’s Fastpitch Tournament, May 24-26.

    The tournament has special significance as it is dedicated to the memory of Jake “The Stat Man” Andreas.
