REDLANDS, CA – The Redlands East Valley Wildcats scored three goals in the first 15 minutes and were never headed in a 5-0 defeat of the Fontana Steelers, Friday, in a Citrus Belt League girl’s soccer match up.

“We knew it would be tough, they’re a great talent and probably the best team in league this year,” said Fontana coach, Armando Fresquez.

After the Steelers gave up the three early goals, the defense toughened the rest of the way. Fresquez especially lauded his goalkeeper, Edith Brito. Click to continue »

YUCAIPA, CA – The once rosy prospect of a three-peat suddenly grew as dim as a dark cloud blotting out the sun. Courtesy of the Redlands East Valley Lady Wildcats, who came to Yucaipa, Wednesday, locked up with the Lady Thunderbirds in first place with 6-1 records.

And when the Lady Wildcats left town, they took with them a 2-0 victory, sole possession of first place, and with the possible scenario of tossing the Lady Thunderbirds off their lofty perch as the defending two-time Citrus Belt League girl’s soccer champions.

“This is a great win, a very big win because Yucaipa (6-2, 14-5-1) has been league champion for so many years in a row,” said REV coach, Katie Husband. “They’ve always been the team to beat.”
