A trip back to the 50th Anniversary of the ISC World Tournament

ashland.ohio.16webAshland Ohio represented their city and state well in the 1996 ISC World Tournament, displaying the kind of athleticism and will to win that typifies the quality of teams that compete in the greatest of men’s Open Level tournaments.

KIMBERLY, WISC – In 1996 the ISC World Tournament celebrated its 50th anniversary in no venue better than Sunset Park in Kimberly, Wisconsin, where the world tournament has been held a record 11 times: 1972, 1975, 1978, 1982, 1985, 1989, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2003 and 2008.

sunset.park.11webSunset Park in Kimberly, home of 11 ISC World Tournaments, is considered by many players, teams, and fans as the greatest of all men’s fastpitch venues. Here before a packed crowd, the Tampa Smokers defeated the All-Car Roadrunners, 4-2, to win the 1996 title.

“We Play It Fast” is still available

YUCAIPA, CA – In 2011, I wrote a boys’ and men’s fastpitch softball book entitled, “We Play It Fast.” The book is part documentary, part memoir, part feature story, and part photo essay.

It has 170 pages and over 200 black and white photos, all packed in 8.5 x 11 inches. The front laminated color cover features Winnipeg, Canada pitcher Stew Sabiston. His is determined expression shows why we play and love this sport.


Michael White, 2009 ISC Hall of Fame member, leads all World Tournament pitchers with 70 wins, with Peter Meredith second at 61.
