“Last year was the first time the Gremlins attended the Boys Of Summer and we loved the atmosphere and fans at Circle Tap.” – New York Gremlins Field Manager Gregg Leather.

DENMARK, Wisc. – In 1967, John Miller bought the Circle Tap Bar in Denmark, Wisc. An avid fastpitch player, Miller decided to build a ball diamond next to the bar. Because as he said in a previous interview, “the only way I could get on a team was to build a ball diamond at Circle Tap.”

Miller said this partly in jest. But truth told, by building that ball diamond, Miller set into motion one of the most prestigious men’s fastpitch locations in all of North America.

NAFA AA-Major World Series has strong field

DES MOINES, IOWA – When it comes to parity, it appears that the NAFA AA-Major World Series is wide open with no clear-cut favorite.

Four of the 15 teams are ranked in the top-25 in the world of men’s fastpitch: The Kegel Black Knights are No. 7; Pete’s Blues, No. 13; the Cal-State Builders, No. 20; The Topeka Toros, No. 23, and New Image No. 24…

But I wouldn’t bet against any of the rest of the field in taking the crown. Just look at the past history of some of these ball clubs and the “who’s who” they have throwing for them.

FARGO, ND – Brady Woods fired a two-hitter and struck out 15 in leading the Winnipeg Bullets to a 5-1 victory over the West Fargo Knights in Friday night’s opener of the NAFA Open – Holm Classic Men’s Fastpitch Tournament.

The Knights lone run came on third baseman Matt Johnson’s solo home run in the second. But the rest of the way, Woods was tough, allowing only Matt Oxley’s sixth inning triple.

West Fargo tops K-Club for NAFA World Series crown

Monday, August 13th, 2012

ANTHONY S. BUSH
THE CAPITAL-JOURNAL

TOPEKA, KS – Two long balls and a dominate performance from a Kiwi pitcher led the West Fargo, N.D., Knights to a 9-2 victory Sunday against the Washington K-Club in the championship game of the NAFA A-Major World Series at the Shawnee North softball complex.

Jackson Prime, a 17-year-old from Auckland, New Zealand, threw six innings of seven-hit ball for the Knights’ second win against the K-Club, a Seattle metro area squad, in the 32-team double elimination tournament.

Relying on his drop ball, Prime surrendered seven hits, all singles, and walked just one batter.

“I threw a lot of drop balls,” Prime said. “My fingers were a little sore, so I could not throw as hard as I wanted to. The win feels good, and we’re still undefeated.”
